Format: This is a skill level, USAPA sanctioned tournament, and will use approved USAPA formats for play. All events with 6 or more teams will be played in Double Elimination format (2/3 to 11) for the winner’s bracket and 1 to 15 win by 2 for the survival bracket. All Bronze medal matches will be played 1 to 15 win by 2. Round Robin matches will be played 1 to 15 win by 1.

Participants: Please check the show players list on to ensure that you and your partner are in the correct events. If there are any discrepancies, please contact Debbie Javete at 623-258-1795 or Brackets will be posted the day of play. Remember the brackets are subject to change until each event starts.

Check in: Players are required to check in at least 30 minutes prior to their event start time. Doing so allows plenty of time to check in and prepare for the event start time. If the tournament is running early, then your event could start up to 30 minutes before the scheduled start.

Play Schedule: Schedule of play for all events is posted on and can be accessed by clicking on this link: Schedule of Play. Brackets will be posted the day of play. Remember the brackets are subject to change until each event starts.

Directions: You can get directions using this map to the Courts.

Parking: There is plenty of parking at the courts.

Lunch: A food vendor will be on site.

First aid: A first aid station will be onsite for all first aid needs.

Referees: There will be referees for all matches. Terry and Sandy Brown will be the referee coordinators for this year’s tournament!

Courts: All courts will be used for playing matches. You will be allowed 5 minutes from the time your match is called. This will include your warm-up time. If warm-up courts become available, it will be announced. Otherwise please stay off the courts for warm-up unless you are assigned to that court. No bags will be permitted onto the courts. This is for player safety. You may bring a towel, water or sports drink onto the courts.

This is going to be a great 4 days of fantastic pickleball!  We are looking forward to seeing all of you, participant and spectator alike, at our 2018 SPA Tournament.

We want to thank all the players and the volunteers who helped to make this a huge success!

There were over 300 players from across the United States and Canada. The players ranged in age from 19 – 76+, playing in Women’s, Men’s, and Mixed Doubles events from October 26  – the 27th, 2017.

The pictures capture just a few of the winners and some of the dress code worn by none other than Marlen Berwald, vice president of the SPA.
